Ari Officer

Ari Officer is a commodities trader at proprietary trading firm Jump Trading, where he focuses primarily on energy and agricultural derivatives. He also works with other asset classes including metals, equities, interest rates, and cryptocurrencies. During and after college, he wrote economic and political analysis for TIME Magazine.

Mr. Officer began his career in the soybean futures pit on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade. When grain markets transitioned to electronic trading, he joined Traditum Group to launch its automated trading division. As a partner of Traditum, and later as commodities desk head and partner of Allston Trading, he risked personal capital in his discretionary accounts. He also expanded the businesses into new futures, options, and bilateral swaps markets.

At those firms, and under his own company Tres Leches LLC, Mr. Officer was a major participant in dairy markets. Enhanced volume and liquidity from his activities ultimately helped the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) establish the Dairy Revenue Protection program. His suggestions on dairy policy, in further support of farmers, were adopted in the 2018 Farm Bill. Throughout his career, Mr. Officer has maintained relationships with commercial participants and worked closely with exchanges on new product launches worldwide.

Since 2014, he has served as a trustee of the Phi Kappa Psi Foundation. Mr. Officer plays guitar and writes science fiction, selling short stories to professional publications. He lives in Chicago with his wife Jenny and two Highland Lynx cats.
